Greetings in Jesus and Mary....

Today is Sunday, November 2nd. Since it is a Sunday, the traditional calendar puts All Souls Day on Monday, November 3rd. I have to start this post with info that yesterday's post on How To Avoid Purgatory received the most reviews I have ever received. The consensus is....We Want to Avoid Purgatory.....and that is a good thing!  Here is more good news below.....DAILY WEAR YOUR BROWN SCAPULAR, PRAY LITTLE OFFICE OF THE BVM AND/OR YOUR ROSARY AND LIVE A LIFE OF CHASTITY ACCORDING TO ONES STATE IN LIFE FOR GOD AS WELL AS ALL THE INFO STATED IN THE PREVIOUS ARTICLE!

Today, we will present information on a controversial topic.....The Sabbatine Privilege.  I am not sure why this is in dispute because here are the approvals from a few Popes. The Sabbatine Privilege was first given to us in a Document written by Pope John XXII in the year 1322. The Summary of Indulgences for the Confrantres of the Holy Scapular, confirmed on April 8, 1908 by the Sacred Congregation of Indulgences, distinctly points out that the Sabbatine Privilege of the Supreme Pontiff, John XXII, had been approved and confirmed by Clement VII (Aug. 12, 1530), Pius V (Feb 18, 1566) Gregory XIII (Sept. 18, 1577), and others by the Holy Roman Inquisition under Paul V (1613). More recently, in 1910, Pope Pius X approved a decree of the Sacred Office by which the faithful may wear the Scapular Medal in place of the cloth Scapular. The decree reads: "Having complied with certain laws in regard to the reception and the carrying of the medal all the spiritual favors and all the indulgences annexed the the Scapular could be gained, the privilege attached to the Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, called the Sabbatine Privilege, not excepted."

All of these approvals SHOULD establish solidly in the minds of every wearer of the Brown Scapular the firm belief that Our Lady of Mt. Carmel will liberate from Purgatory on the Saturday following their death all who have faithfully fulfilled the conditions required for the gaining of the Sabbatine Privilege.....NOT because they have fulfilled the conditions but because they were done with love for God and Our Lady and She in turn releases the soul from Purgatory with a tremendous love for the soul who loved Her on earth.

The Decree of Paul V, issued on Jan 20, 1613: "It is lawful for the Carmelite Fathers to preach that Christians may piously believe in the help promised to the souls of the brethren and members of the Confraternity of the BVM of Mt. Carmel that the Blessed Virgin will assist by her continual intercession, sufferages and merits, and also by her special protection, particularly on the Saturday after death (which has been consecrated to Her by the Church) the souls of the brothers and the members of the Confraternity departing this life in charity who shall have worn the habit, and shall have observed chastity according to their particular state of life, and also have recited the Little Office  (or if unable to read, have kept the fasts of the Church, and have abstained from the use of meat on Wed and Sat, unless the Feast of the Nativity of Our Divine Lord should fall on one of those days). NOTE: We have since received permission to pray the daily Rosary in lieu of praying the Little Office of the BVM. I hope and pray that this audience does both.

In order to gain the Sabbatine Privilege one must have: (1) departed this life in Charity (died in the state of sanctifying grace) (2) during life have been a member of the Scapular Confraternity of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (been enrolled in the Scapular by a priest) (3) faithfully worn the Brown Scapular (particularly at the time of death (4) daily recited the Little Office of the BVM or prayed the Rosary or observed the fasts of the Church and abstained from the use of meat on Wednesdays and Saturdays (5) observed chastity according to one's state of life.

The Scapular devotion offers not only the assurance of many graces and indulgences during life, but is, according to the words of Our Lady, a 'pledge of eternal salvation'. In his letter to the Corinthians (1 Cor. 2,9) St. Paul says, "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man, what things God has prepared for them that love Him." With this in mind, who can possibly hesitate to joyfully fulfill with an intense love for God and Our Lady....all the conditions requred for the gaining of the Sabbatine Privilege in order to be with them for all eternity?

Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary and Brown Scapular, pray for us!
