Greetings in Jesus and Mary....

I said that I would post chapters written by the Carmelite Friars from the book, "Take This Scapular", which was printed in 1949 in preparation for 1951 which was the 700 year anniversary of the Brown Scapular. So lets enjoy their words and enthusiasm from the past for this gift of Our Lady from Heaven since we are not experiencing that in the Modernized Church.

I have chosen the chapter titled, "The Scapular and the Conversion of Sinners" written by Fr. Terence W. Fitzgerald, O. Carm. This is not the entire chapter but only some of its paragraphs.......

"The Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel is one of the most efficacious means used by our Mother to save souls. There are innumerable cases on record of how the Scapular has literally snatched sinners from the very jaws of hell. "

An example taken.........

" The following example illustrates the power of the Scapular. "Doctor Francis Zaldia, former President of Republic of Colombia, was an eminent lawyer very much opposed to the Catholic Church. He always belonged to the liberal party, which in that country, as in most countries is hostile to the Church. To him, partly, the expulsion of the Jesuits had to be ascribed. Nevertheless, he had a son who was educated very carefully and finished his studies at the American College of Rome. The Colombian studied for the priesthood and was particularly devoted to the most holy Virgin. Although he prayed to Our Lady incessantly for the conversion of his father, all his efforts seemed in vain. After the young cleric had been ordained a priest, he returned to his native country. A few years after his son's return, the old ex-President became hopelessly ill, but gave no indication that he wished to die as a Christian; on the contrary he awaited death unconcernedly. This almost exasperated the priestly son who stood near the dying father's bed. Making a final effort, the young priest said painfully: "Dear Father, what human skill could do has been done. Do you not want any spiritual assistance whatever? Please, take this Scapular!" The dying president, accepting the offered Scapular, soon made his Confession and declared that he wished to die a son of Mother Church."

There is another miracle in his article that I will post tomorrow. May we keep each other in prayer and try to promote enrollment in the Brown Scapular as Our Lady has asked of us at Fatima in her last apparition on Oct. 13, 1917. Below is the prayer formula to take to a priest with your Brown Scapular to be enrolled if you have not been enrolled or would like to ask your pastor to enroll those who are interested in your parish....this can be done any time of the year but this month of July would be a great time to celebrate the anniversary and save souls in honor of our Lady of Mt. Carmel and of Fatima for the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Fatima, pray for us!
