Hello Everyone: Tomorrow is a New Year – 2020! A time for new (or renewed) resolutions and a firm commitment to Our Lord Jesus Christ! A dear friend of mine says – “It is a great time to be alive!” Some would disagree but we are here and God wills it so! The question is – “How am I to cope with the present day sorrows in the Catholic Church?” It is not my intent to go over those sorrows. If we do not know of them – there are many sites on the internet to inform us of them. It is my intent to focus on what Our Lady of Fatima came to warn us of and Her remedy! Just before Our Lady came to Fatima in 1917, Pope St. Pius X reigned from 1903 to 1914 and is known as a Pope against Modernism. He did everything he could in his power to keep the tsunami of modernism from taking over the Church. He knew that upon his death – it would flood the Church with its poison. We are graced by God with his writings and those of other Popes who have spoken against this infectious disease called – Modernism. St. Pius X called modernism the synthesis of all heresies. This is serious! We cannot be asleep at this time in history knowing this. Our faith and the faith of our children are at stake! We must be vigilant and watch and pray. A little digression but on the subject --- My sister just yesterday stated that the faith of her son who just graduated college is weakened by all the scandals in the Church. I told her - all of the youth are scandalized and more so if they do not have a deep prayer life! We will start with Pope St. Pius X’s encyclical - “Pascendi” (link below) warning all of us with – “We allude, Venerable Brethren, to many who belong to the Catholic laity, nay, and this is far more lamentable, to the ranks of the priesthood itself, who, feigning a love for the Church, lacking the firm protection of philosophy and theology, nay more, thoroughly imbued with the poisonous doctrines taught by the enemies of the Church, and lost to all sense of modesty, vaunt themselves as reformers of the Church; and, forming more boldly into line of attack, assail all that is most sacred in the work of Christ, not sparing even the person of the Divine Redeemer, whom, with sacrilegious daring, they reduce to a simple, mere man.” Again – speaking of the Modernists – this will sound familiar to what is going on today…… “Blind that they are, and leaders of the blind, inflated with a boastful science, they have reached that pitch of folly where they pervert the eternal concept of truth and the true nature of the religious sentiment; with that new system of theirs they are seen to be under the sway of a blind and unchecked passion for novelty, thinking not at all of finding some solid foundation of truth, but despising the holy and apostolic traditions, they embrace other vain, futile, uncertain doctrines, condemned by the Church, on which, in the height of their vanity, they think they can rest and maintain truth itself.” (Just a note - Pope St. Pius X was found to be incorrupt in 1944 when his body was exhumed. He was canonized on May 29, 1954 by Pope Pius XII. Being that he is incorrupt should give more credibility to the writings and effort he made for us and the Church. May we read his writings and understand the present dangers!) The great philosopher and theologian Dietrich Von Hildebrand states in his book – “The Devastated Vineyard” that it would be thoroughly false to say: since God allows it, it must be according to His will, and so we have nothing to do but say, “Thy will be done”, (which I hear ALOT!) As St. Paul says, “God allows these evils in order to test us. But it is a deadly and radically false notion to think that, because God allows heresies to be readily spread, we should not fight against them but should go along with them in a spirit of resignation. This is a false interpretation of resignation to God’s Will. We should instead be filled with pain and sorrow and a firm resolution to fight against it as a true soldier of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. It is a trick of the devil to be so scandalized by all of these evils within the Church as to give up. To just feel helpless and hopeless when we have God on our side and all of Heaven with all the angels and saints – not to mention Our Blessed Mother who can defeat ALL HERESIES! We need to wake up and be diligent against the enemy. The remnant is small but we cannot be weak! We must trust in God and do all in our power to be true soldiers of Jesus Christ and His Church. How?? – We all can start in our own families and with our friends who are losing hope. We are called to place love where there is no love, truth where there is no truth, faith where there is no faith. Can we do this on our own? No – we have to make a firm resolution to be in union with God through prayer and especially the rosary. It is a means of great contemplative prayer. It is a prayer that Our Lady, Queen of Heaven and Earth asked us to pray! Put on Her Armor – Wear the Brown Scapular and spread these devotions to your family and others during this crucial time in history. Place yourself and your family under Her Mantle and Consecrate them all to Her care. She will defeat the heresies that are all around us and She will guide us to Her Son! We can be sure of being guided on this stormy sea to our destiny which is Heaven. She is the Star of the Sea. The Blessed Trinity is so good to us in giving us all that we need through Her Immaculate Hands! God be praised for such a gift and such a consolation during these very very trying times. May we turn to Her – Live the Fatima Message of Rosary, Consecration, Sacramental Life, Brown Scapular and Reparation for the crimes committed all around us. With this life, we will find Peace and Love and fulfill the Will of God. If we do this – She will protect us and our loved ones from the wiles of the devil and his deceptions now penetrated into the Church. She will guide us to Her Son and finally to our eternal home! BLESSED NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU – MAY WE KEEP EACH OTHER IN PRAYER AND REMAIN GOD’S REMNANT NOW AND FOREVER!! HOLY MOTHER MARY - PRAY FOR US!!
