Greetings in Jesus and Mary.... I pray all are well. We are coming close to the end of July which is dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Jesus and of course for Carmelites...we remember the Brown Scapular and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. I wanted to place this article after the last article on the proposed elimination of the Latin Mass. In the Carmelite Order we have had the destruction of the enrollment of the small Brown Scapular for the faithful. Even in the Third Orders, we have problems such as only wearing their Brown Scapulars to their meetings and not on a daily basis....they are to wear the small one on a daily basis .. but are they? In the pre-Vatican II Third Order Carmelites, one was to wear the large scapular DAILY....makes perfect sense. We also have the few Carmelite friars dressing in secular clothing (like many diocesan priests) in their "free" time....is the small Brown Scapular worn under their secular shirts? We have a problem in the Carmelite Order. I have a copy of the Catechesis to the Brown Scapular in a link below (which I put in a word document to highlight but the link is noted if you want to go there...also....there is only a month ..no year...because they keep updating this). I have the original 2000 version in a booklet form and I am pretty positive that adjustments have been made to the web copy over these years because of complaints....even so, this catechesis still has holes in it that do not reflect the Traditional teaching on the Brown Scapular. Definition of humanism....Humanism is a philosophical stance that emphasizes the individual and social potential and agency of human beings. It considers human beings as the starting point for serious moral and philosophical inquiry. The meaning of the term "humanism" has changed according to the successive intellectual movements that have identified with it. Wikipedia If you read this catechesis, you can see the humanism that exists in it. The lack of belief in the supernatural and miracles. I will include quotes taken from the internet when I first discovered the Carmelite friars were shifting gears from the supernatural to natural,,,,these quotes have since been wiped clean off the internet. (Note: they were putting emphasis on the fact that it is better to look at Mary as our sister – not Mother who helps with supernatural graces but just to be imitated as an example.....this has since been corrected on the catechesis) THESE QUOTES ARE FROM THE TWO PRIESTS RESPONSIBLE FOR UPDATING THE CATECHESIS ON THE BROWN SCAPULAR............. QUOTES FROM - Fr. Sam Morello OCD Taken from [email protected] Topic – Brown Scapular The article starts out with “The Holy See had been anxious to have an update on the scapular from the Carmelites for years, especially since Vatican II. Well, an awful lot of work has been done on the project in Rome by friars of both Observances. The great historians Luigi Saggi, O Carm and Valentino Macca OCD had collaborated for some years to gather the basic historical facts and come up with a sound orientation for the future partial update of the scapular. “Both the Holy See and the Carmelites knew that it was time to set in place in relation to the scapular devotion what some theologians call the “Mariological correctives” of Vatican II. “ “The new catechesis presents the scapular more in the framework of our baptism in and allegiance to Jesus Christ. We wear the scapular as a reminder of our having “put on the Lord Jesus Christ”. (I add..... all good but it does not end there) FR. MCMAHON, O CARM Taken from Carmelite Spirituality – 7 Parts – Carmelnet.org Regarding the Future – Part 7 “…in much popular imagination Mary was becoming an alternative savior to her Son. This was particularly comforting to some whose Christology – influenced by a variety of heresies – emphasized a wrathful Christ ready to abandon the world He had redeemed and recall His mercy in favor of a divine wrath. It was as if the merits of the cross had suddenly run dry and the eternal sacrifice of Christ was no longer sufficient for redemption. In this ghastly sotierology it was now Mary who save the world by holding back the arm of her Son from visiting His anger upon us in a great cancellation of the new and eternal covenant in His blood. The scapular in this theological nightmare, was an escape hatch for a world destined en masse for hell…..The major question for us is not how do we recover the scapular, but rather how can we recover the best of Marian devotion of which the scapular is such an important outward sign. I think one of the challenges facing us with Marian devotion today is that people want Mary in her mediatorial role—they want her as intercessor, but they do not want a healthy and complete Marian devotion.” In conclusion (and there is more but it would be too long) and in defense of the Scapular and to please the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, we need to strive to restore the scapular to its original state. All of our sacred Tradition on the Brown Scapular must be preserved and passed on because it is necessary for the salvation of souls and to keep them from the clutches of Satan. May Our Lady of Mt. Carmel give all Carmelites the zeal and the love for souls in wanting to make known this Scapular that is afforded to them by Her hands. Added to the links below...I have added the advisor to Klaus Schwab of the WEF stating that we do not need God ....only humanism....Has God left us to our own devices because we no longer want the supernatural and no longer believe in God or miracles? REMINDER..Our Lady of Mt. Carmel came to Fatima on Oct. 13, 1917 to show us the Brown Scapular....it is a gift from Our Lady...as all gifts come from Heaven! Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, pray for us! Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, pray for all priests!
